Which photo printer is the most economical to run?

Posted On June 18 In Personal Photo Printer

I need to print a lot of photos on a regular basis for a playgroup. Which photo printer would be the most economical to run as in cost of print cartridges and amount of photos from them to still produce a decent enough quality of photo. The playgroup depends basically on fund raising.

Go to this site. the price is really really cheap for photo paper. Also, when YOU do print, set the printer preferences to NORMAL instead of bEST. The noticable difference is negligable and the output will still be high quality. You will save a lot of ink by doing so as well.

The consumer website below (Consumer Search) collects and consolidates reviews for all types of products and makes recommendations based on their analysis of various reviews. The links below are for their latest recommendations/compilation of reviews for photo printers (last updated in November 2009):

You might also want to consider multifunction printers that include a photo printing option. Below is a link to a comparison chart of and reviews for multifunction printers that include a photo printing option:

Consumer Reports is another great source for printer reviews…the last time they did a review on a wide spectrum of printers in their December 2009 issue. They also publish a yearly "Electronics Buying Guide" which includes printers. —–> Both of these (the magazine and the Electronics Buying Guide) should be available at your local public library. <—–

Or, for $5.95/month (auto-renewing, but you can cancel at any time), you can subscribe to their online version, which offers full ratings/reports on many types of printers. Below is a link to their main printer review page.

In addition, Castle Ink (the company I work for) has posted an article about what to consider when purchasing a photo printer: :
